Communications activities: 

 From the 3rd to 6th of December 2013, Mr. Emanuel H. Martin who is also Udzungwa's TEAM Site Manager did attend a 9th TAWIRI International Scientific Conference held in Arusha - Tanzania.  The TAWIRI conferences are events done after every two years and are being organised by Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute of Tanzania in collaboration with both local and international organisations. During this time, Mr. Martin had an opportunity to do a presentation based on the camera trap data for year 2009 collected in Udzungwa Mountains. Apart from drawing a huge crowd during his presentation, Mr. Martin clearly demonstrated the importance of using camera traps and standardized methods in ecological studies.

Protocol Activities: 

Protocol activities in this quarter included setting up of the last array of twenty cameras on the most northern part of the Mwanihana Forest making a total of 60 camera traps in the whole of study area.

In addition all the six vegetation plots situated at different altitudes in Mwanihana forest were measured which saw a total of 3310 stems measured in this year.

Lastly, the weather station continued to work efficiently and plans to install a new radiation sensor are underway. With the new radiation sensor, the weather station will be able to save power and perform even much better.
