2012
Quarter:
July - September
Communications activities:

None

Unusual Events at the TEAM Site:

The quarter has been unusually dry and that triggered high incidence of fires around and inside the National Park. Most of the fire incidences have happened on the eastern side of the Park which is bordering several villages. It is thought that fire is mainly caused by people when cleaning farms and accidentally escapes into the Park, and/or sometimes set by arsonists. The impact of these fires appears serious, and could have altered forest structure significantly in some areas.

New Species:

None

Protocol Activities:

Array one and two for terrestrial vertebrate, and climate protocol for July, August and partly September were implemented during this quarter. Two sensors namely Pyronometer and Temperature/RH probe were sent out for calibration to the Campbell Scientific offices in UK.

Protocol Problems:

There has been a problem with Climate Protocol. The problem begun when the datalogger was turned off so that, two sensors could be removed for calibration. In addition, during the exercise, three old sensors were also removed. Upon turning on the datalogger, there was communication failure between the pc and the datalogger hence making it hard to upload the updated program.
