Communications activities: 

The evaluation of Tropical Ecology Assessment and Monitoring project in Madagascar was held at Centre ValBio, Ranomafana, Madagascar on May 30th, 2017. Around twenty participants from TEAM’s partners participated. The objective of this meeting was not only to evaluate TEAM, but also to discuss the way to find a new source of funding in order to continue TEAM activity.

Pascal Rabeson, National Director of Centre ValBio, thanks all of TEAM’s partners and also the Conservation International to choose Ranomafana National Park for the implementation of this project during that seven years. He also talked a lot about the importance of long term research and biodiversity monitoring, such as TEAM doing. He wish the continuity of this project. At the end of his speech, He transmitted the message from Dr. Patricia, Executif Director of ICTE “ValBio will continue TEAM_ 8 and now, 50% of the budget to run this project have been found." During this time, Harison Randrianasolo, species program coordinator from CI Madagascar presented the story and the objective of TEAM. Then Claude Ralazampirenena, TEAM Site Manager also presented the results and the specificity of TEAM at local, national and international level. All administrative tasks, such as the regularization of IRSA, OSIER, CNaPS, reporting, etc. has been conducted by Safidiniaina Jaofelalijaona.

Protocol Activities: 

All fieldwork related to TEAM 7 has been done during the previous quarter. During this quarter, we only focused on
 

Vegetation Protocol: At the beginning of this quarter an identification of the unknown plant at the species level was conducted at the National Herbarium in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
 

Terrestrial Vertebrate Protocol: Fieldwork for TEAM7 have been done during the previous quarter. However, we have been conducted a special expedition to verify the presence of Prolemur simus in Andranofady, which is half of the array 1 of TEAM project. All camera traps data from Ranomafana has been sent to TEAM headquarters in Washington D.C and also saved onto hard drive locally. 
 

Climate Protocol: Monthly climate data collecting (every 15th of the month) and bi-weekly climate station maintenance have been conducted regularly.

Protocol Problems: 

An error always happens when we upload the climate data into the Portal.
