October - December
Communications activities:

A letter of application for the Congolese Government Authorization to establish a climate station in the Kabo logging concession adjacent to the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park was submitted to the General Director at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Forest Economy and Environment in October 2009. This was followed by a series of informal meetings and email communication with the Congolaise Industrielle de bois (CIB) a logging company operating in the Kabo logging concession to host the climate station and the General Director at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Forest Economy and Environment. As a result, the letter of agreement by the General Director of the CIB was signed in October 23rd followed by the letter of Authorization to establish the climate station by the General Director at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Forest Economy and Environment in December 28th 2009. The next and final step that we’ve already started is to negotiate with the logging company for clearing the site to host the climate station.

One senior botanist (Mireille), one senior vegetation technician (Fabien), two vegetation measurers (Edouard and Valère) were identified and one terrestrial vertebrate technician was recruited for the first sampling scheduled to start in late November 2009.

Following the change in Nouabalé-Ndoki Project management staff, Dr. Thomas Breuer has been recruited as a Technical Advisor and is now a new Project Administrator for TEAM in Nouabalé-Ndoki.

Schedule Problems:
The long and slow in the administration process with the Relevant Government Authority and the CIB logging company led into a delay in sitting the climate station.
