Climate station:

The Korup climate station was installed in February 2012 at Chimpanzee Camp, about 500 m from the 50-ha Korup Forest dynamics Plot. The first data was downloaded but we have had some difficulties uploading to the TEAM website. Based on the report of prior vandalism in the park, we deploy 2 guards to watch the installation whenever the field staff is on break.

Camera trap

In late March, camera traps were deployed in the second array and collected in April. A quick look at the pictures showed that there were some species which were not observed in the first array, including pangolin, bushbaby, yellow-backed duiker and black-legged mongoose. No elephants were observed, but Drills were captured on at least 10 camera traps.

Trees and Lianas

The first recensus of the 6 TEAM 1-ha plots in Korup was carried out in January and February. The data is entered and is to be uploaded to the TEAM server soon.

Protocol Problems:

Dr Chuyong who is responsible for the Climate station at Korup had several difficulties in uploading the first dataset. These were troubleshooted with TEAM technical staff in DC.

Logistical Problems:

The uploading of the data of the climate station was delayed due to logistic problems that are still to be solved with the help of the TEAM staff.
