On July 10th, around noon, a camera trap located at Paktza Park Ranger station captured the moment when a short-eared dog, Atelocynus microthis, was holding a rainbow boa, Epicrates cenchria, in its mouth.

To our knowledge, this is the first record fo a short-eared dog preying on boas. There was a previous report of a short-eared dog eating a Caeciliidae at Tiputini Biodiversity Station, Ecuador and a frog at another station, but not a boa.
