In October/November during the Array 1 sampling, Caxiuanã recorded black panthers (Panthera onca) for the first time in four years of TEAM monitoring protocol. Three of our 30 cameras photographed them. The species has been recorded over the years but never in melanistic color variant.

Due to loss of habitat, poaching of prey and fragmentation of populations across portions of the range, the jaguar is considered to be Near Threatened (IUCN).
